DT080: B.Eng.Tech. in Electronic and Computer Systems
This is a one-year ordinary degree programme for students who already hold a certificate in electronic engineering or a related area. This programme has a strong systems perspective, which is intended to develop the student's knowledge and technical abilities in the areas of Computer and Communications Engineering and Industrial Electronics Systems.
This programme is also offered on a part-time basis over a two-year period of study (see programme DT079).
Entry Requirements
A technician certificate qualification in electronics, or related discipline from a recognised institute with at least a Merit grade, or a qualification, that is deemed by the Dublin Institute of Technology to be an equivalent qualification.
Applicants should use the DIT Advanced Entry system (not CAO) to apply. Forms are available from the DIT Admissions Office.
Duration
One year full-time, starting in September of each year.

B.Eng.Tech. in Electronic and Computer Systems of the Dublin Institute of Technology.
Progression
Graduates of this programme who reach the appropriate level in final examinations and meet certain subject prerequisites can progress to year 3 of DT081 (Computer Engineering), DT021 (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) or other honours degree programmes in DIT and elsewhere in higher education.
Career Opportunities
You can expect to work in industry, setting up, commissioning or maintaining complex communications or manufacturing systems. In a relatively short time you can look forward to supervising other staff doing this work. You might also work as a member of a team designing and developing new systems.
